Amber is not a single scent but a constellation of warmth: the dark, balsamic sweetness of labdanum; the mineral, animalic intimacy of ambergris; fossilized amber; vanilla and tonka; tobacco, liquor, incense, and resins that seem to hold the memory of fire.

Against these warmer materials, the woods introduce their own intricate textures. Cedar and sandalwood, palo santo and agarwood, spruce, fir, pine, hemlock, larch, juniper, and cypress. Dry splintered bark, sweet sap, cool needles, damp forest floor, and the aromatic exhalation of wood warmed by sunlight.

The fragrances in Amber Woods move between the resinous and the austere, the honeyed and the bitter, the lacquered, the smoky and the green. Some are deeply balsamic and enveloping; others are transparent, mineral, or sharply coniferous.
