Wild Vermont Black Spruce Soliflore ☽•☾ Organic, handmade, single note solid perfume from black spruce boughs. Collected from wild stands in old growth Vermont bogland at my home.

☽•☾ Wild Vermont Black Spruce Soliflore ☽•☾
Do you want to smell like a tree in the taiga? A muskeg black spruce standing tall and lean against the peat? Grape colored cones clustered at the crown, sphagnum bog below. Secretly preserving a blackberry jam perfume, a vessel which when dead will be draped in fruticose lichen, old man's beard, and evernia, the gray-green curtains of the swamp? If so my multifaceted soliflore from Picea mariana boughs collected in spring will help you get there. I collected broken black spruce foliage from the hemiboreal primeval forest at my home, where it grows like weeds, and left it in tincture for a year to develop a sweet, jammy, aroma. I then used the old methods of slow evaporation to preserve the delightful top notes, resulting in a thick resinoid. This single note perfume does not smell like a Christmas tree, but like warm blackberry pie. In fact, if you did not know this source of the scent is coniferous, you might think it comes from fruit. It's what you want fruit absolutes to smell like, as if they've been reduced with sugar and baked in the oven. Like Wild Veil's natural fragrances made from my other handmade conifer extracts, its profile is vibrant and intoxicating, like sticky life. Redolent of figs, blackberries, and jam. This soliflore is a gender neutral solid perfume set in organic plant butters and very raw beeswax. Color is deep green but may vary according to batch.

Note: warm, jammy middle to base note with outstanding fixative properties.

Photos: scaly bark on the trunk of a black spruce tree and a black spruce grove in the old growth hemiboreal forest at my home, my handmade absolute from long term tinctures of wild boughs and needles, black spruce resin I collected from dripdowns (without harming the trees or disrupting wound healing), and the soliflore in a 60ml tin and in a 5ml glass jar; solid perfume in 5ml and 10ml black violet glass jars. All labels are drawn with pen and ink and lightfast oil-core colored pencils and digitally edited, by the perfumer.

Wild Veil natural perfumes are composed by me, Abby, using homemade, wildcrafted and organic aromatics in Vermont. These include my handmade enfleurage, tinctures, enfleurage extraits, absolutes, resinoids and concretes, and floral waxes. I spend as much time growing plants and foraging as I do composing perfumes.

The best way to experience a natural perfume is to apply it to well-moisturized skin, without rubbing in (absorption only shortens the wear time of fragrance) and without scrubbing off. Natural perfumes are dynamic and take a minimum of 2 hours to reach their final stage, or dry down. Enjoy the alchemical changes as they unfold from the initial intensity of top notes, to the warmth of the heart, to the depth of lower base notes.
