Samples of 9 Wild Veil natural perfumes with prominent arid notes, evocative of or sourced from desert regions: Solar Lotus, Joshua Tree, The Dunes, Temperance, Ouroboros Forever, Camphora, Antigone Outside Thebes, Magdalene's Feet, and the Sage Scrub fixative.
Solar Lotus - Leonine pink lotus sun. Radiant helichrysum. Shala tree sunburn. A fierce ritual. Smoky incense in the musk sun. Spicy sandalwood. Cloves, cumin and saffron. Fossilized amber, oud and agarwood attar.
Joshua Tree - Succulents, psychedelic cacti, mystical herbs, terpenic highs and deserted lows. Piñon pine. Mexican wood. Aged vetiver. Ambrette seed. Aged dark patchouli. White sage. Palo santo. Angelica root. Wild herbs and incense.
The Dunes - Sand dunes. A sea of earth, bone and shells. Cactus flowers, sun-baked wood, sage, lavender, and camphor. This fragrance centers on the unique aroma of cistus labdanum (rock rose). Like sand mounds shape shifting in the wind, cistus unfurls its strange deep sea tentacles. A sharp, aromatic-herbaceous top note evolves into a round, spicy, resinous base. Then the top returns, opening into a warm, sweet floral on top of deep balsam. A diffusive, mystical musk exposes itself over time, smooth and petrified like an alchemy of ambergris and precious woods. Sea creature animalic, undulating over an evaporated ocean floor. Herbal, woody, warm. Both sharp and round. Androgynous but most definitely arousing.
Temperance - Terpenic wood. The Smudge. Shala. Palo santo. Moroccan, red & white cedar. Tar. White sage. Major Arcanum for Sagittarius.
Ouroboros Forever - Fossil pollen from the southern tip of the African continent. Fresh pollen from white flowers. Fir resinoid curled and aged into an amber coil. White peony enfleurage extrait, aged 2 years (heirloom perennials, grown by perfumer), Star jasmine enfleurage extrait, aged 2 years (heirloom perennials, grown by perfumer), Gardenia jasminoides enfleurage extrait, aged 2 years (11 heirloom cultivars, grown by perfumer), Amber resinoid of fir balsam tears, aged 3 years (wild harvested by perfumer), Balsam poplar buds (tincture from fresh spring buds, wild harvested by perfumer), Rose damask (organic, grown by perfumer), Petrified hyrax midden (cruelty free, wild harvested, Karoo).
Camphora - Camphor (wild, Borneo), Malawi camphor basil (perfumer grown from open pollinated seed), Gum cistus (perfumer grown from open pollinated seed), Baja purple sage (perfumer grown from open pollinated seed), Black sage (perfumer grown from open pollinated seed), White sage (perfumer grown from open pollinated seed), Patchouli (perfumer grown from open pollinated seed). Celebrating the many shades of camphor, Camphora is a limited edition 2021 gender neutral fragrance.
Antigone Outside Thebes - A sister's desert candle, grief, rage, and exposure. Burial matrix from Lawudo cave incense, cobra dust, Fujian mountain tea, succulent skeletons, sandal ellipsis, and leather root.
Magdalene's Feet - Pepper, sand, henna, a sheep flock among gardenia. Angel wing jasmine enfleurage extrait, incense cedar, citrus and orange blossom bath.
Sage Scrub fixative - Earth crust amber, a dab of black and white sage honey, sun-activated trichomes sticky with sand and ocean salt. Baja California's version of a "fern" (fougère), crenulate and rough. The Wild Veil Sage Scrub fixative features dry, desert herbs characteristic of southern California's coastline and the Baja California peninsula. It includes my handmade, organic absolutes: chaparral, and dried Salvia apiana (white sage), Salvia mellifera (black sage), and Salvia leucophylla (Baja sage), all grown in my gardens from open pollinated seed. Notes of tumbleweeds, dry rush, and Pacific bluffs.
Each liquid perfume comes in a 1ml clear glass perfume vial with an applicator cap. The fixative comes in a hinge top pod. These are samples of approximately 20-25 drops, enough for 4-6 wears, per perfume. All scents will have labels with my handwriting and art, and they arrive nested inside a gift box filled with flowers, mosses, and plants that I have pressed and dried.

Wild Veil natural perfumes are composed by me, Abby, using homemade, wildcrafted and organic aromatics in Vermont. These include my handmade enfleurage, tinctures, enfleurage extraits, absolutes, resinoids and concretes, and floral waxes. I spend as much time growing plants and foraging as I do composing perfumes.

Wild Veil oil perfumes are suspended in an odorless base of organic MCT coconut oil. As they do not contain water, liquid perfumes do not expire, and may improve with age. While the volatile top notes (the ones that hit your nose first) will fade after a year or more, the base and heart notes will deepen and grow more complex.

In solid perfumes this silky transparent base (above) mingles beautifully with the earthy, honey musk of organic beeswax. Raw beeswax traps the aroma molecules, releasing them over time for an intimate experience.

The best way to experience a natural perfume is to apply it to well-moisturized skin, without rubbing in (absorption only shortens the wear time of fragrance) and without scrubbing off. Natural perfumes are dynamic and take a minimum of 2 hours to reach their final stage, or dry down. Enjoy the alchemical changes as they unfold from the initial intensity of top notes, to the warmth of the heart, to the depth of lower base notes.
