DARK FRUIT
Dark Fruit is fruit taken past ripeness: cured, concentrated, stained purple-black and sinking into earth.
Cured Mission fig and black Tlor Tsiran apricots form its dense center, joined by Deglet Noor and Black Sphinx dates, Monukka raisin, Queen Garnet plum, and vanilla. The fruit is not bright or freshly picked. It smells dried, jammed, leathery, wine-dark and almost balsamic — the sugars deepened by curing into something closer to preserved fruit, old wine and resin.
Running underneath is an extraordinary subterranean chord of carrots: purple dragon, Kinko Chantenay, Rouge Sang Violette, and Oxheart. Their root sweetness pulls the fruit downward into damp soil, violet earth and vegetal darkness. Wild aromatic turmeric, cured in house, adds another layer of dry root, spice and strange aromatic heat.
The effect is opulent without becoming confectionary: black fruit, roots, skins, wine, earth and preserved sweetness.
A perfume of fruit after sunlight has left it.

Wild Veil natural perfumes are composed by me, Abby, using homemade, wildcrafted and organic aromatics in Vermont. These include my handmade enfleurage, tinctures, enfleurage extraits, absolutes, resinoids and concretes, and floral waxes. I spend as much time growing plants and foraging as I do composing perfumes.

The best way to experience a natural perfume is to apply it to well-moisturized skin, without rubbing in (absorption only shortens the wear time of fragrance) and without scrubbing off. Natural perfumes are dynamic and take a minimum of 2 hours to reach their final stage, or dry down. Enjoy the alchemical changes as they unfold from the initial intensity of top notes, to the warmth of the heart, to the depth of lower base notes.
