Garnet

July 2026

Jewel-toned droplets of floral syrup suspended between sunset and darkness.

Some roses bloom with impossible softness.

Others seem to gather light itself.

Garnet belongs to the second kind.

Built around heirloom roses from my own garden, this July 2026 edition explores the moment when petals deepen from crimson to wine, when sweetness begins to take on the richness of fruit preserves, warm resin, and antique woods. The perfume opens with luminous rose nectar—lush, dewy, almost translucent—before slowly darkening into ambered florals, smoky woods, and powdered resins.

There is a strange tension throughout: radiant but shadowed, delicate yet dense, as though each petal had been lacquered with drops of floral cognac and left to glow beneath evening light.

Tonka bean lends a velvety warmth while neroli and linden blossom lift the composition with green-gold air. Lavender softens the transition into a drydown of labdanum, ancient wood, soft musk, and the faint memory of smoke carried from somewhere beyond the garden.

The result feels less like a bouquet than a gemstone slowly revealing its depth as it turns in the light.

This July 2026 edition continues my fascination with preserving living botanical beauty at its most expressive moment. Like so many of my perfumes, it seeks not simply to recreate the scent of a flower, but to preserve its fleeting aromatic peak—the instant when fragrance seems fuller, more dimensional, and almost impossibly alive before time carries it somewhere else.

Warm, resinous, quietly radiant.

A rose that glows from within.

Rose brûlée sunset. Dark crystals and jewel-toned droplets of floral cognac cling to dusk-plump petals of honeyed helichrysum in an ancient oud wood. Whispers of tonka, cool neroli and smoky choya ral. Linden blossom and wild lavender blow green breath upon labdanum powder. The dry down is powdery and musky. For any gender. The liquid version is vegan while the solid perfume has the addition of raw beeswax.

Wild Veil natural perfumes are composed by me, Abby, using homemade, wildcrafted and organic aromatics in Vermont. These include my handmade enfleurage, tinctures, enfleurage extraits, absolutes, resinoids and concretes, and floral waxes. I spend as much time growing plants and foraging as I do composing perfumes.

Wild Veil oil perfumes are suspended in an odorless base of organic MCT coconut oil. As they do not contain water, liquid perfumes do not expire, and may improve with age. While the volatile top notes (the ones that hit your nose first) will fade after a year or more, the base and heart notes will deepen and grow more complex.

In solid perfumes this silky transparent base (above) mingles beautifully with the earthy, honey musk of organic beeswax. Raw beeswax traps the aroma molecules, releasing them over time for an intimate experience.

The best way to experience a natural perfume is to apply it to well-moisturized skin, without rubbing in (absorption only shortens the wear time of fragrance) and without scrubbing off. Natural perfumes are dynamic and take a minimum of 2 hours to reach their final stage, or dry down. Enjoy the alchemical changes as they unfold from the initial intensity of top notes, to the warmth of the heart, to the depth of lower base notes.
