Botanical Perfume

An amber of tea, grain, smoke, and memory.

Mosaic is composed from a collection of homemade tinctures and botanical extracts assembled like fragments of an ancient work of art.

Earthy oolong tea forms the foundation. Around it gather wisps of incense smoke, toasted grains, lapsang souchong, jasmine rice, woods, and fungal earthiness. Each material contributes a distinct texture, yet together they merge into something seamless and quietly radiant.

The opening carries the savory sweetness of warm rice and aged tea leaves. Incense rises slowly through the composition, followed by smoky woods and the faint suggestion of temple walls darkened by centuries of smoke.

As it develops, Mosaic reveals unexpected softness—a grain-like amber warmth that feels simultaneously ancient and comforting.

Meditative and contemplative, it wears close to the skin like a memory.

Perfumer's Note

Mosaic explores one of my favorite ideas in perfumery:

That beauty often emerges not from a single material, but from many fragments assembled together over time.

Like pieces of stone, glass, and gold joined into a larger image, these tinctures form a fragrance whose whole becomes greater than its individual parts.

The fragrance interprets amber through tea, grain, smoke, and age rather than traditional resin accords alone. It is an amber of contemplation—warm, textured, and quietly luminous.

Wild Veil natural perfumes are composed by me, Abby, using homemade, wildcrafted and organic aromatics in Vermont. These include my handmade enfleurage, tinctures, enfleurage extraits, absolutes, resinoids and concretes, and floral waxes. I spend as much time growing plants and foraging as I do composing perfumes.

The best way to experience a natural perfume is to apply it to well-moisturized skin, without rubbing in (absorption only shortens the wear time of fragrance) and without scrubbing off. Natural perfumes are dynamic and take a minimum of 2 hours to reach their final stage, or dry down. Enjoy the alchemical changes as they unfold from the initial intensity of top notes, to the warmth of the heart, to the depth of lower base notes.
